An avid supporter of Namibia’s creative economy, RMB Namibia is proud to announce its sponsorship of two Namibian artists - Jo Rogge and Lynette Musikubili - who will showcase their work at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair in Johannesburg this month.

The sponsorship was handed over to The Project Room at an event in Windhoek. Speaking at the event, RMB Namibia’s Group Communications Manager, Kirsty Watermeyer, described the occasion as “a powerful affirmation of what we believe: that art matters, and that Namibian stories deserve global stages.”

Now in its third edition, RMB Latitudes is one of Africa’s leading contemporary art fairs, recognised for its immersive and inclusive approach. Taking place from 23 to 25 May 2025, the fair celebrates African creativity, featuring artists and exhibitors from across the continent.

Representing Namibia are two dynamic artists whose practices explore heritage, memory, and identity. Textile artist Lynette Musikubili, from the Zambezi Region, draws on her cultural background to examine the experiences of young Namibian women. Returning to RMB Latitudes for the second time, she will debut sculptural textile works that mark an exciting evolution in her practice.

Jo Rogge, a celebrated figure in Namibian contemporary art, brings decades of experience and a deep commitment to social justice. A multidisciplinary artist, co-founder of the John Muafangejo Art Centre, and the founder of Sister Namibia, Rogge’s work spans painting, drawing, and printmaking. At Latitudes, they will present a body of work exploring the fragility of identity in today’s cultural landscape.

The artists present deeply personal perspectives rooted in Namibian history and storytelling. Each brings a distinctive voice that aligns with Latitudes’ mission: to celebrate authentic African narratives.

As title sponsor, RMB believes in the transformative power of creativity to uplift individual artists and drive economic and cultural progress across the continent. “We are proud to support the RMB Latitudes Art Fair because we believe that creativity drives progress,” said Watermeyer. “The same imagination that fuels great businesses also fuels great art.”

She continued, “Through our support of the arts in Namibia, we aim to create access, open doors, and elevate voices that deserve to be heard. Jo and Lynette are two such voices.”

Frieda Lühl, founder of The Project Room, expressed gratitude for RMB Namibia’s continued support: “RMB has been at our side from the beginning, allowing us to focus on curating strong exhibitions and representing Namibian artists, without the financial pressure that often limits such vision. As a small business, we are incredibly grateful to have found partners who share our goals and help us place Namibian art on the international stage.”

Lühl explained that for The Project Room, this collaboration aligns perfectly with their mission to nurture Namibian artists and amplify their stories beyond national borders. Participation in RMB Latitudes connects local creators with new audiences and highlights their role in the broader narrative of African contemporary art.

Watermeyer added, “We are incredibly proud that RMB Namibia can play a role in enabling this opportunity, not just as a sponsor, but as a partner in celebrating Namibian artists.”

Namibia’s presence at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair is more than symbolic -  it is a powerful statement of the country’s artistic excellence. With the support of RMB Namibia and The Project Room, and through the work of Jo Rogge and Lynette Musikubili, Namibian art will continue to inspire, challenge, and resonate across borders.

As RMB Latitudes promises a vibrant celebration of African creativity, RMB Namibia reaffirms its commitment to investing in the continent’s creative economy and the storytellers shaping its cultural legacy.
