RMB Namibia, through the FirstRand Namibia Foundation, is proud to announce its sponsorship of N$ N$398 500.00 (THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY EIGHT THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED) towards OMBA Arts Trust, an organisation dedicated to empowering Namibian artists and preserving cultural heritage.
During the official handover event, Kirsty Watermeyer Communications Manager for FirstRand Namibia Group, reaffirmed RMB Namibia’s commitment to investing in initiatives that foster education, training, and skills development, particularly within Namibia’s creative sector and among women.
“For over 30 years the OMBA Arts Trust has been a beacon of hope for the marginalised communities of Namibia. The Trust has made significant strides not only in supporting local artists but equipping them with the tools necessary to develop their skills and thereby uplifting their communities and preserving their cultural heritage,” Watermeyer stated.
As a staunch supporter of the Creative Economy, RMB Namibia recognises the vital role organisations like OMBA Arts Trust play in driving socio-economic growth. The Trust has created employment opportunities for over 600 individuals, the majority of whom are women. This sponsorship reinforces RMB Namibia’s dedication to empowering women, acknowledging the transformative impact of economic independence on families and communities.
“OMBA Arts is a prime example of the ripple effect that occurs when we invest in women. Through their work, they not only provide for their families but also inspire those around them and contribute to the overall growth of their communities,” Watermeyer added.
Accepting the donation, Isabel Katjavivi, Director of the OMBA Arts Trust, highlighted the Trust’s focus on economic empowerment and its dedication to preserving Namibia’s artistic heritage. She expressed her gratitude for RMB Namibia’s ongoing support.
“We are incredibly grateful to RMB Namibia for recognising the importance of this work and for their commitment to uplifting communities through financial empowerment. This support will make a real difference, and we look forward to sharing the impact in the months to come,” said Katjavivi
RMB Namibia believes that real, meaningful change comes from strategic investments in partnerships that drive sustainable development. This sponsorship serves as a testament to the organisation’s mission to create lasting value for Namibians from all walks of life.
