RMB Starlight Classics, South Africa’s leading AfroSymphonic music spectacular, is back in full swing, with tickets for sale publicly.
The concert series is a legacy contributor to SA’s creative economy, having showcased many of our country’s top artists and brought home the likes of opera diva Pretty Yende. The concerts have also provided many up-and-coming musicians with a national stage to turbo-charge their careers.
This year’s Cape Town concert will take place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 March at the Vergelegen Wine Farm, Lourensford Road, Somerset West. The line-up includes unique musical collaborations that bring together classical, opera, pop and rock music, while the audience enjoys their picnic under the stars.
“Our first RMB Starlight Classics was staged in 1998,” says RMB’s Carolynne Waterhouse. “Twenty-five years on, RMB Starlight Classics has grown into a premium entertainment brand with the demand for tickets always exceeding supply. We aspire to produce an al fresco night of positivity with a diverse musical range to surprise and delight loyal and new audiences.”
The event, which takes place in Cape Town and Johannesburg each year, provides all the guest artists with the rare privilege of working with a full orchestra, which is a ‘bucket lister’ for many soloists and performing groups.
“RMB Starlight Classics allows us to deliver on our passion for unlocking talent and doing good business to create a better world,” says Waterhouse.
